Maatown Terms & Conditions

Last updated:

Maatown Services ("Maatown", "we", "us", "our") operates the Maatown mobile and web applications and related services (collectively, the "Platform") that connect residents of Cheyyar and neighbouring areas with local shops, pharmacies, drivers, medical practitioners, property managers, advertisers, and other service providers ("Partners"). These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the Platform, whether you access it as a consumer, vendor, driver, practitioner, advertiser, or any other role ("you", "your").

Note: Maatown is yet to be registered as a business entity. The Platform is currently owned and operated by Hariharan Rajendran, who is the creator of this application.

1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account, logging in, or using the Platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you must stop using the Platform.
When you access the Platform on behalf of a business or organisation, you confirm that you have authority to bind that entity to these Terms.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering into binding agreements under Indian law.
Businesses and professionals must hold all licences, permits, or registrations required to lawfully provide their products or services in Tamil Nadu and other applicable jurisdictions.
3. Accounts and Authentication
Maatown uses Firebase Authentication. Keep your login credentials, one-time passwords, and tokens secure. You are responsible for all activities carried out through your account.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that are inactive, inaccurate, incomplete, or linked to suspected fraud or misuse of the Platform.
You agree to keep your profile details, including name, email, phone number, roles, and business information, accurate and up to date.
4. Services Available on the Platform

Maatown is a technology Platform that facilitates discovery, ordering, booking, marketing, and communication between users. We do not provide the underlying goods or services. Major modules include:

Marketplace & Shops: browse products, place delivery or pickup orders, track order statuses, reorder past purchases, and manage vendor catalogues, discount tiers, and analytics dashboards.
Pharmacy Services: allow customers to request medicines, review pharmacy details, manage prescriptions, and handle vendor fulfilment metrics.
Service Providers: list and search home or professional services, upload work photos, schedule callbacks, and track customer enquiries.
Transport & Drivers: register auto or travel drivers, manage vehicles, toggle availability (including night duty), enable optional location tracking, and let riders request nearby drivers.
Property Listings: publish rent or land listings, collect expressions of interest, and monitor enquiry history. Listings are provided by the property owner. Maatown highlights local opportunities but does not verify ownership, pricing, or legality—users should validate all details independently before entering any agreement.
Medical Practitioners & Bookings: list doctors, accept and manage appointment requests, and gather patient reviews. Maatown is not a healthcare provider and does not give medical advice.
News & Advertisements: publish local news, run advertising campaigns, send push notifications, and configure ad pricing and categories. Apart from official Maatown campaigns, advertising content is supplied by the advertiser. We proudly showcase local offers, and you should confirm the details directly with the business before acting on any promotion.
Coupons & Promotions: create, distribute, validate, and analyse online/offline coupon redemptions.
Job Postings & Applications: employers can post job listings with details such as job title, description, company information, salary, location, requirements, and application deadlines. Job postings require admin approval before being published. Applicants can browse available jobs, apply with their resume/CV and cover letter, and track application status. Employers can manage applications, track calls from interested candidates, and update application statuses (pending, viewed, shortlisted, rejected, accepted). Maatown facilitates the connection between employers and job seekers but does not verify job details, company credentials, or guarantee employment. All hiring decisions, salary negotiations, and employment terms are between the employer and applicant. Maatown is not responsible for the accuracy of job postings, the quality of applicants, or any disputes arising from the hiring process.
Notifications: send transactional alerts, order updates, and marketing messages via Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM).
Partners – not Maatown – are solely responsible for the goods, medicines, healthcare, transportation, and other services they offer, including regulatory compliance, quality, and customer support.
5. User Responsibilities
Provide accurate and lawful information when using the Platform.
Respect intellectual property rights. Upload only content that you own or have permission to use.
Follow all applicable laws covering consumer protection, healthcare, pharmacy, transportation, advertising, property, and taxation.
Keep customer data, order information, and personal details secure, and use them only for the intended transaction.
Notify Maatown immediately if you suspect unauthorised account access or security issues.
6. Additional Obligations for Vendors, Service Providers, and Drivers
Maintain complete and accurate business details, catalogue information, pricing, taxes, availability, and delivery parameters.
Pharmacies are solely responsible for prescription validation, medicine quality, and compliance with the Drugs and Cosmetics Act and related regulations.
Drivers must hold valid licences, obey traffic and transport laws, and use location tracking responsibly. Enabling background tracking implies consent for continuous location updates while toggled on.
Medical professionals must disclose qualifications and registrations, and remain accountable for patient care, records, and follow-up.
Advertisers and publishers must ensure their content is truthful, lawful, and non-infringing. Maatown can reject or remove content at any time.
6.1 Additional Obligations for Job Posters and Applicants
Job Posters (Employers): You are solely responsible for the accuracy, completeness, and legality of job postings. You must provide truthful information about job requirements, salary, company details, and application deadlines. You agree to comply with all applicable employment laws, including anti-discrimination laws, minimum wage requirements, and labour regulations. You are responsible for reviewing applications, conducting interviews, making hiring decisions, and managing all aspects of the employment relationship. Maatown does not verify job postings, company credentials, or guarantee the quality of applicants.
Job Applicants: You are responsible for the accuracy of information provided in your applications, including resume/CV, cover letters, and personal details. You understand that employers will have access to your application materials and contact information. All hiring decisions, salary negotiations, and employment terms are between you and the employer. Maatown is not involved in the hiring process and does not guarantee job placement or employment.
Job postings require admin approval before being published. Maatown reserves the right to reject, edit, or remove job postings that violate these Terms, contain false information, or are deemed inappropriate. Rejected jobs may be resubmitted for review after corrections.
Employers may download resumes/CVs submitted by applicants for legitimate hiring purposes only. Misuse of applicant data, including sharing with third parties or using for purposes other than hiring, is prohibited.
7. Orders, Payments, and Fulfilment
Maatown facilitates ordering and communication but does not control payment flows. Payment methods (cash on delivery, UPI, wallets, etc.) are arranged directly between customers and vendors.
Vendors are responsible for invoicing, tax compliance, delivery logistics, and dispute resolution with customers.
Coupons and discounts follow the terms set by the issuing vendor or Maatown. Suspected abuse may lead to suspension or revocation of offers.
8. Location-Based Features
The app may request device location to determine service coverage, suggest nearby offerings, or connect riders with drivers. You can disable location permissions in device settings, though certain functionality may stop working.
Saved addresses and last-known locations can be stored with your profile to support deliveries and service availability checks within the Cheyyar service radius.
Drivers who enable tracking agree that the app may collect location updates in the foreground and background while they are set to "online".
9. Push Notifications and Communications
By using the Platform, you consent to receive transactional, service, security, and marketing communications via FCM, SMS, email, or phone.
You may adjust marketing preferences in the app or via support, but critical operational messages are mandatory.
10. Content Ownership and Licence
You retain ownership of content you submit. You grant Maatown a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to host, display, reproduce, modify, and distribute that content as needed to operate and promote the Platform.
Maatown may store content on third-party infrastructure (including AWS S3) and share it through partner channels.
We may monitor, moderate, or remove content that violates laws, rights, platform policies, or public interest. Repeated violations can lead to account termination.
11. Third-Party Services and Integrations
The Platform integrates services such as Firebase (authentication, messaging), Google services (maps, location), AWS (storage, cleanup), and other providers essential to product functionality. Use of these services is subject to their terms.
Advertisements or external links on the Platform lead to third-party products or services, which Maatown does not endorse or guarantee.
12. Data and Privacy
We process personal data – including contact information, order history, saved addresses, business details, driver availability, device identifiers, and analytics – to deliver and improve the Platform.
Refer to our Privacy Policy for detailed information on data collection, use, sharing, and retention.
You must not misuse customer data obtained through the Platform beyond fulfilling the relevant transaction.
13. Prohibited Conduct
Do not violate any laws, regulations, or court orders.
Do not attempt unauthorised access to Maatown systems, APIs, or data.
Do not copy, scrape, or reverse engineer code or data without explicit permission.
Do not upload malware, spam, deceptive promotions, or harmful content.
Do not harass, defame, or discriminate against other users or partners.
Do not circumvent security controls or share credentials or OTPs.
Do not use the Platform to distribute illegal goods, controlled substances, or unlicensed medical or transport services.
14. Suspension and Termination
We may suspend or terminate access, remove content, or limit features if you breach these Terms, compromise security, fail to deliver services, or engage in fraud or abuse.
You may delete your account at any time through the app or by contacting support. We may retain transactional data as required by law.
15. Disclaimers
The Platform is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.
We do not guarantee continuous, uninterrupted, or error-free access, nor are we liable for outages caused by third-party providers such as Firebase or AWS.
Medical or health-related information is supplied by practitioners. Always seek professional medical advice independently.
Vendors, drivers, and service providers are independent contractors. Maatown is not responsible for their actions, omissions, delays, or service quality.
16. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Maatown is not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, or loss of profits, data, or goodwill arising out of or in connection with your use of the Platform.
Maatown's aggregate liability for claims relating to the Platform will not exceed INR 5,000 or the total fees (if any) paid to Maatown in the three months preceding the claim, whichever is greater.
17. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Maatown, its affiliates, directors, officers, employees, and agents from claims, losses, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from your breach of these Terms, your content, services you provide, misuse of location data, or disputes with other users.
18. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Courts in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, will have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to mandatory statutory provisions.
Before initiating legal proceedings, the parties will attempt in good faith to resolve disputes through written notice and a 30-day negotiation period.
19. Changes to the Terms
We may update these Terms to reflect product changes, legal requirements, or business needs. Updates will be communicated via the Platform or email. Continued use after changes become effective constitutes acceptance.
If you do not agree with the revised Terms, you must stop using the Platform and delete your account.
20. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force and effect. An invalid provision will be replaced with a valid term that best reflects the original intent.
21. Assignment
You may not assign or transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms without Maatown's prior written consent. Maatown may assign its rights and obligations to affiliates, successors, or acquirers.
22. Force Majeure
Maatown is not liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, epidemics, war, labour disputes, government actions, or telecom outages.
